Trail Tunes: September free fall

The tourist traps are empty

Vacancy abounds

Almost like it used to be

Before the circus came to town

“When the Coast is Clear” by Jimmy Buffett

I love beach towns in September along the Mid-Atlantic, when the hordes of summer tourists have departed, the ocean water feels warm like a bath and the boardwalk shops are open but not crowded. The air is chilly and the seafood complemented by a great glass of brew is just as tasty in September as it is in July.

Mrs. Compass Points and I are hoping to stop by the Jersey Shore this weekend to enjoy a warm sun and cool sand beneath our feet. So this week’s “Trail Tunes” pick comes off my “September Beach” playlist – a most excellent acoustic cover of “Free Fallin’ ” by John Mayer, one of the classic laid back beach songs of all time.
