Weather or not to hike

Neversink River, Catskills

Not heading to Shenandoah National Park this weekend. The guy I was dragging bringing along just got back from a 15-hour drive from Florida and severe thunderstorms are predicted all day for the northern Virginia mountains. And, I humbly admit, Mrs. Compass Points and I have a lot of work to do in our new townhouse like painting, painting and more painting, plus hanging cabinets, closet shelves and then more painting.

You see where I’m going here. The boots have to take a second place position on the priority list some times. And I’ve had enough rainy backpacks this year to last me for a while.

But the weather is suppose to break Sunday, sun’s gonna come out and my buddy and I will strike out for a trail around the area. The A.T.? Catoctin Mountain Park? Pine Grove Furnace State Park? Don’t know, but fortunately, the autumn foliage is holding on in our region, so we should have a spectacular color show no matter where we go.

Hey, don’t forget to “friend” us at the Compass Points Facebook page. Have a great weekend. Hike on!
